It was my first time of going to the marina resort located in the heart of Calabar,
Cross River State, a State said to be the tourism capital of Nigeria. I went there with a
friend, Krespo, with the intension of telling you how the resort looks and to relax and
have fun of course. Words can hardly describe this place, pictures can, I guess. This
is my trip to the marina resort :
We were welcomed by a beautiful anchor about 18 feet high. On the anchor was
written 'Calabar my Calabar'. Yeah! They ought to be proud to come from Calabar. I
knew from this point that we were In for a very 'sightful' afternoon. If you think 18 feet
is an exaggeration, check out the picture below:
Yeah, thats me,Idy, friends call me 'Hyper'. That anchor is big, no doubt. Titanic must
have used something like this. Krespo is an inch taller than me; that's about 6'1. He's
a dwarf when compared to this thing. Check him out...
No! No!! No!!! No match at all. The anchor actually is a symbol representing what the
whole place is all about. It is a riverine area. This area was occupied by local
Fishermen before the government of Cross River decided to change it to a resort.
Marina also has a historical story behind it as it was used to ship out Africans in the
era of slavery.
OK, lets keep moving. Children are bound to have fun at the resort. Who
wouldn't want to take a ride on the merrry-go-round. I feel like taking a ride my
self. Sorry for me, its for children only. There's more!
