The Calabar Carnival is an annual event put together by the Cross River State Government to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Cross River and Nigeria as a whole. This event takes place on the 26th of December (Boxing Day) in the city of Calabar. There are five bands in participation namely: Passion 4 (the current Champions), Bay side (led by Donald Duke and his wife), Freedom, Master Blaster ( led by the Governor, Liyel) and Seagul.
